Best prices for filters?
On my Ford diesels I use Filter1 or Fleetfilter for all my WIX filters.
It would seem that the filtration needs of my 83' 300SD are a bit more rarefied. Wondering which vendor would be the best to purchase about 10 each fuel, air and both fuel filters from at once? Assuming I should be using MANN/Mahle? |

That's what I use, mostly.

I like the wix air filters as well. I did a thread comparing most common airfilters some years back. Just looking at them you can tell which are duds (STP etc) and which are worth a damn (Mahle, wix etc).

Oil 51385 Air 42194 Fuel Pri 33006 Sec 33149 Trans 33006 is there a sticky somewhere with consumable numbers for MB's. |

I'd skip the WIX/Napa oil filters they are like 5x worse than OEM in filtration and below OE spec. I used to use them, no more.

I thought Wix were nearly the best filters out there? post data that shows they are bad, I'll forward it to the filtration division of the manufacturers station here at the wix plant. (I fix their printers here in Gastonia, NC!)

There is als 2 long Oil filter threads and in one the WIX filter that comes up for an 84 300D is a 35 Nominal Micron Filter. The German or made in Austria Filters are in the 22-28 Nominal Micron Range. That is for the Full Flow section of the Filter. The WIX Oil Filters for the other Mercedes Diesels are OK.

For the Spin-on Fuel Filter Fram and WIX make them; they are al 10 Nominal Micron filters.
Back home on my own Computer. On the WIX site it often has the Nominal Micron level of filtration or on some the beta rating. http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/index.asp Deliveryvalves list of Oil Filter makes micron ratings http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=247597&highlight=Bosch+Oil+filters&page=3 Long Oil Filter Threads Organized MB DIY links http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/265211-sub-par-quality-oil-filters-post2338769.html#post2338769

I use Baldwin Filters now, they have the best filtration levels in the industry and are built like a tank. In the USA too! Not cheap...about $13.65 apiece when ordered 12 at a time. Which I do.
