22/23mm is WRONG !!

The bolt you want to use to turn the motor over with a 27mm on the CRANK pulley. Thats the big pulley down low on the front of the motor.

The size of the CRANKSHAFT Bolt is 27mm--No Matter Where in the World you are!....

The CRANKSHAFT is NOT the bumpy-shaft-thingy on the Top of the engine, under the valve-cover (For which it sounds like you've got a 23mm spanner for)--That is the CAMSHAFT--DO NOT turn engine by turning this shaft by the set-bolt on the front--You WILL Break summit....

Use the CRANK, (Under the fan, at the Bottom of the engine for turning to set-up valves.....

No matter where you are in the world, my money says that you aren't going to find a CRANK in that location for that intended purpose.

Apparently I read it wrong. I thought he wanted to know what size socket to use on the bolt. I was merely trying to make sure he didn't do something that would hurt his engine. Only trying to help out a fellow forum member.

I wasn't aware your job was to correct everyone about everything... case in point your last comment about the crank... which in every part of the world (on an OM617a as long as it is "right side up") the crank would be below the fan pulley towards the bottom of the engine... so your answer is kind of confusing? Unless you are talking about some other kind of crank... No need to clarify...

Sorry OP for going off-topic... hopefully from now on you wont receive more replies that are unrelated to your question (which apparently mine was - as noted by tangofox).
