For future reference....

Put an ad up on CL for someone with R-12 equipment. You may find someone who still uses it at home and has all the equipment, like me.

Attempt #2

I can't wait to hear the answer to vstech's question, as I am confused by what I have read so far. Most people say to never charge with liquid and now I am seeing that there might be an appropriate time to charge with liquid but into the high side only?

Also, while I have everyone's attention, since I had to reopen the system, I plan to properly flush the system again, but I can't stand to spend $15/can for more A/C super flush. What would be a decent flush alternative that will wash away the oil and then quickly evaporate out of my system after being forced out with something dry like nitrogen or helium?

Thanks everyone!

Oh and....

I just bought a NEW R4 compressor too and it sounded like the bearings were shot. I need to return it today.
