Humble pie, anyone?

It is how many time one wants to win an argument without any facts.

I have personally experienced seal failure in a 123 pump and I believe it was due to use of the later ATF formula. I have no way to prove that, nor am I trying to prove it, but it did correspond with what I learned from the magazine articles of the early nineties.

I am still quite frustrated that intelligent people find it difficult to understand that it is possible for various additives to attack various rubber compounds and that seals installed today can be susceptible to additive changes tomorrow.

So how many of you BELIEVE that I am just telling a bald faced lie here? How many of you believe that I just made this up because I had nothing better to do?
I believe ya, Larry..but I also believe in the benefits of synthetic lub oil (M1 and Amsoil) but on the ATF thing, I Think you be right

I am just a normal forum member, trying to contribute on technical issues if I think I am up to it. I am sure you are up to it 99% of the times but there are times that one has to back down. If you try to argue without any facts then others would be very sceptical. I believe you that such article exists but it should not be the basis of your posts. Even if you can produce the article, it does not negate the fact that MBZ or other publications specify ATF.

LB - I respect you as a forum contributor. Some posts are good and some posts are a bit below par. This is the fact of life as everyone makes mistake, I am no excpetion. At least you do not 'command' me to get off the post as 1 memeber did. Enough is said and I am going to sign off as it is not conducive to anyone mental health.

It's definitely good to take things in consideration like ATF formulation changes. I think it is possible that it could damage seals, but I am thinking that in the case of transmissions it probably won't, but still a good thing to take in consideration. I am leaning toward using Redline D4 ATF in my 1968 200D which calls for ATF.

no argument on the power steering stuff.

Entertaining argument on fluids aside, It seems that you are not willing to take any skepticism as anything but being called a "bald faced liar" which is regrettable, as you are clearly a well informed, respected and frequent contributor to the forum.

Im reading back through here, and I can find nowhere where anyone claims that you are lying at all. The closest person who comes to it is myself, and I have tried to make it clear that I simply disagreed with you, I at no time assumed you were lying.

If its even unclear now, to reiterate, I do NOT believe you were lying, and Im sorry if it came across that way.

I don't think anyone was really trying to force concessions from you, its just that you got sooooo angry sooooo fast, that people are compelled to respond in that circumstance. Im not looking to make enemies here, especially with you, Larrybible.

I also will drop it now, shall we discuss something a little less charged, motor oils perhaps?
