1996 E300D vacuum and tensioner issue

My Friend is working on a 96 E300D, One of the Vacuum lines came off the Vac pump and he does not where it goes, it's a clear line with no color stripes he says it's hooked to something on a fender, Drivers side, It's throwing Codes for the glow Circuit and Also a throttle/pedal position sensor,

The Idler Tensioner makes a Clattering sound from Idle-1300RPM, It's has a new shock on it but it rattles, It's not the timing chain is there anything that can cause this to rattle around?

Also, what can be throwing the codes for the Throttle position and Glow plug circuit?

Is the vacuum line maybe from one of the two transducers? Possibly to the vent? Mine are actually balck hose on the 99. Not certain if I have any clears hose.

Check the motor mounts before condemning the tensioner. I replaced multiple tensioner parts, multiple times, before finding out teh motor mounts were bad. Only figered out the mounts after a month or more of Gilly's patient help.

Good mounts measure 17mm from top most rubber rim of mount to supporting arm above. Collapased is 13mm or less. Use a corresponding bolt head as a feeler gauge. You can't get a "tape" in there to measure.

I have not seen the car personally, but I will suggest the mounts, another thing I should have put in here was that the Car shifts... Hard, so I'm guessing that the Trans Vac line has something to do with the line that's detatched

Did the line come off of the vacuum pump or off of the thing on the fender?

In my 1996 E300D (W210, OM606NA), the only clear vacuum line that goes from the vacuum pump to the driver's side inner fender goes to a solenoid valve under the ABS pump. It is difficult to access but your friend might try removing the window washer reservoir and looking for a black rubber connector that doesn't have a plastic vacuum line sticking in it.

If the line came off of the vacuum pump, there are a couple of multi-arm rubber connectors that distribute vacuum; the clear line came out of one of them, it should be easy to see.

I don't know what the solenoid does but it might be related to the codes -- fix it and see.

The attached picture shows a new 606 motor mount (left) and a bad, collapsed motor mount (right).

Note that Jeremy's pic of the mounts is upside down......you can see if you measure the top that they would be considered collapased.

Thanks on the Vac line tip, I'll ask him and see, I'm sure thats probably it, I'll also tell him to check the mounts.
