Replacing the Octopus Spider Light in 240D
Hello -
I'm trying to replace the bulb in the octopus spider light holder that feeds light to the rear light and rear defogger switch. Can I get to the bulb by removing the switches and the upper panel (above the heater controls, just below the center vents)? If so, how do I remove the A/C twist knob? I figured out how to remove the switches, I just can't get the A/C knob off. Can I just remove the panel with the knob attached? My car is a 1980 240D. I don't have the "wheel" for the A/C control, but a twist knob. Thank you |

The knob will pull straight off. Then there is a nut underneath that you'll have to remove. Presto chango, your ready to pop out the trim piece.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The knob pulled right off, removed the nut and the piece came right off. I have pretty small hands, so I was able to reach the bulb easily!
Thanks again! |
