86 300SDL expansion valve is it even possible?

I am doing my A/C system on a 603.961 300 SDL
I got my switches
dryer
oil
R-12
temp sensors
expansion valve
low side hose ECT.
pretty much everything but the condensor ,big hoses, compressor, climate control unit

My compressor clutch was only engageing when 5-7 pin was jumped at the kilma
so I will do this to kick it in while it is charging and after A/C is charged

if it doesn't kick in then I will replace kilma am I right in thinking this?

But here is the real issue
I was at the junk yard the other day to get some interior parts off an 85 SD

I saw where the expansion valve was on the 85 it's not that bad at least you can get to it!

now I get home and got to take my dash out for some repairs ECT. (thats a tuff job but doable)

I find where the expansion valve is and try to figure a way to get to it I don't think it is possible

I have all the dash out
duct work out
trim panels
even the big braket that bolts the steering colum to the trans tunnel doesn't help
it seems to be one of those things that even if I got it out
getting it back in would be impossible

I am a logical calm person but I see no way to do this
I NEED TIPS or should I just leave it
