Best suspension pump kit?

hi, i suspect my sls pump on my '82 is shot. i see there are several rebuild kits avail, one from Diesel Giant and one from Mercedes Source. there's a big price diff. does anyone have any experience here? or have any other sources? Do these kits work okay? a new pump is serious $$.

thanks Chuck

A used pump off ebay is cheaper and has a greater chance of success.

Chances are its not the pump. Start with a rebuild of the sls valve down the back of the car. The member Biodiesel XXX something (sorry Andrew for getting your name wrong) on here has kits & instructions. Do that first. You may wish to describe the symptoms of the problem you have as many on here have had to do sls work & can save you reinventing the wheel.
Does phil @ fastlane on here have a kit?

Yea, these pumps are not known to fail. I've read of people running the pumps dry for an extended period and still having them work when refilled.

I'm not sure that a gasket/O ring kit will fix a truly failed pump at any rate. If there is scoring on the internals, the instructions say that is the time for a new pump.

What symptoms lead you to believe that the pump has failed?
