JB Weld and Citrus Flush. Will there be problems?

So. I would LIKE to do a citrus flush since there is so much crap and scale in the system. BUT! I repaired a pin-hole in the water pump housing with JB weld. It's a tiny hole (pin-sized even) and I repaired it on the inside and outside (both sides of the hole...).

Will a citric acid flush undo my repair? Whaddaya think?

(If you've been following my saga - and I can't imagine you have - then rest assured that I plan on flushing after chasing down my other issues)

I don't think the mild citric acid would even touch the JB Weld.

Thumbs up

see my post on using a Prestone backflush kit, mercedes citric flush along with Shout Ultra Gel in order to REALLY flush the bad stuff out. even after performing multiple Prestone back flushes using a garden hose, the mercedes citric flush followed by using Shout Ultra Gel flush followed by yet another Prestone back flush, I STILL have some rust showing in the system! I'm planning on redoing this regiment again next year.......

I would doubt it

That JB Weld is really tough stuff. I haven't found anything that will get to it except a grinding tool. I don't think you have to worry.

The JB Weld will be OK but it is the Metal.
However, if the metal around the JB Weld was corroded and the JB Weld was put over it there is a small chance th aid could eat under the JB Weld.
Since both sides are patched I doube if there would be an issue. After the flush just keep an eye on the area for a month or two.

If the space shuttle's styrofoam tiles were held in place with JB Weld, there wouldn't be any missing tiles on the shuttles.

That JB Weld is some bad a$$ stuff!

J B is an epoxy based material. It takes something much stronger than citric acid to hurt it. You will have no radiator core left long before the J B fails. Probably you have many other weak spots on the radiator core that will fail. Can you flush it with the radiator out?

Also consider that you may discover weak spots in the heater core!
