A/C Help
Hi, the air in my car stopped working a few months back its a r134a system. I recharged it in early spring and it worked good enough about 2 months.
I checked for leaks and didn't find any. It blows ambient or a bit more than ambient air. I have replaced the monovalve so far. The compressor is engaging when I turn the A/C on, and I can see r134a flowing through the system at the sight glass. Whether or not there are bubbles I can't tell. Please help its hot!

You need to start by connecting a manifold gauge and getting high and low side pressures. Post them here along with ambient and vent temp. That's the first step in the troubleshooting process.

^^^ What he said. Gauge pressures will help us diagnose your system. Borrow a set if you need to. Better still, buy a cheap set off of Craigslist or Ebay.
At least it sound like your compressor is running - that eliminates a large part ($$$) of your problem... On edit: Here is something I found on Craigslist-Baltimore, kinda near you: http://baltimore.craigslist.org/pts/1881921487.html

what do you mean you can see it flowing, but can't tell if there are bubbles?
If there are bubbles in there, it will look white and foamy through the sight glass. If it's pushing all liquid there it will be perfectly clear.

jubjub, it does seem foamy as you describe it. What does that mean?

Low charge creats small bubbles in the system. They appear as "milky" or bubbles in the sight glass.

^^ Yup. How did you check for leaks? I'm not a fan of the UV dyes. I prefer to check with a leak detector like this http://www.mytoolstore.com/yokogawa/h10pm.html
That's a pretty bad leak if it only lasted 2 months.

Yes, that is a massive leak for only holding a charge for 2 months. Should be easy to spot even with the dye.
