I would like a W211 Bluetec.
Heck, I'd settle for a W212 diesel - but not until (2+) years old used before buying. |

I'd like it if I could shove an om606 into my cabriolet... Like it has any resale value anyways..

A pure joy to drive a car this quick and fast, that also delivers reasonably acceptable fuel economy. |

To the best of my knowledge and recollection, none of the w210's in the US had the smaller tank. We received the (at least) 70 liter tanks. Smaller tanks were in Europe and other markets, as they had an opening for ski's and the such...

I have a '98 that just passed 165K. I know that's fairly inexperienced compared to many of the 210's here, but it will be catching up. I changed jobs at the beginning of the year, which meant going from a company car to using my own. Let me tell you, a 210 with well over 100K beats the hell outta an Impala with 35K.
Anyhow, I am consistently getting 30mpg. I do drive mostly on the highway, but often get stuck in Austin traffic. I replaced all six glow plugs around 75K and I will be changing the tranny fluid for the 3rd time once I hit 175K. I'll reach that milestone before the end of the year. It's been a great car for the 120K that I've driven it...save for the full a/c replacement three years ago. I will be spending some suspension dollars soon too. I don't have any plans to replace it, although my local dealer took an '06 CDI in on trade last week that piqued my interest. She had 8,552 miles. I was scared off by too few miles! |

I wish I could have bigger tank. Acually I have 27 gallon tank from my boat it's all aluminum . I know how to take the tank out but is it possible to use that n take the original one out???
The only thing I'm not sure is the fuel line cause the original Mercedes tank has the fuel line from bottom n the one I have is the fuel line is from top.

Then how come I put 17+ gallons with at least a quarter tank left in my US 210.

With a very low tank, and A LOT of patience.... I have been able to get 19.9 gallons in previously. It can happen :-)

Your '96 has a 21.1 gallon fuel tanks.....your MPG beliefs are faulty. (Way off.....) '96 E300Ds do not get 42 MPG - nor anywhere near it..... |

Last time when I changed my fuel tank Strainer, my tank was EMPTY n I put about a gallon with small gas tank so I could get to gas station to fill up n it only took 15.4 Gallon.
