engine noise from 60 to 70 mph.. then quiet again

The noise is comparable to a propeller airplane or when semis use the air brake. It's a 82 300sd I bought 4 weeks ago, 205 000 miles. Drove it from Dallas to St. Louis, MO and then to Pensacola and back. Any suggestions?

And here I was thinking this would be a complicated one to figure out.
