1983 300TD a/c curiosity

The a/c on my beautiful '83 TD has recently developed an odd problem.
I can feel the compressor engage, but the fan won't begin to blow for 5 minutes, or longer, after starting the car (even in vent mode) and sometimes simply stops. I can engage the 'defrost' mode and the fan blows high and sometimes by switching quickly to a/c (or vent) I can catch the fan and get cool. Otherwise it's just wait 'til the fan decides to come on.
Monovalve looks good.
Help, the afternoons are hot in Albuquerque.
Jacob

Typical failing CCU (ACC) issues. Search "cold solder".
