[QUOTE On my old buggy we would run sand socks over the K&N to keep out the sand.[/QUOTE]
I think I need to refresh this, If sand will get through just think what else is getting in. I would like to see a bowl of sand/dirt next to those store displays and see what realy works. |

If there was a way to hear more turbo sound while keeping the stock level of filtration, I'd be open to that. But that is all. Do the '85 California style air cleaners allow for more turbo sound?

Have you checked the price on the CA type Air Filter. You can get 3 of the non-CA Air filters for the cost of one CA Air Filter.

The picture is "8037a.jpg". I couldn't find anything "8037a" but Fram has a CA8037 that looks like it. http://www.framcatalog.com/PartDetailWindow.aspx?b=F&pn=CA8037 Looks like the closest thing to a BHAF that will fit in the engine bay. |

would love to get a fram CA8037 to fit...have a question regarding silicon pipe/reducers.
My stock turbo inlet = 2-3/8 (60mm), would a 2-1/4" or 2-1/2" silicon pipe fit...or should I search for a 2-3/8"? Never worked with silicon pipes before...never owned a turbo before :p thanks, manny

You should get the entire coffin the CA8037 fits in. Some even have an airflow vacuum gauge to tell you when it's time to replace it though a filter that size might have an infinite life in your car

I put one on my old 240D. There was no discernible change in power or economy; the only change I noticed was with less vacuum in the intake, blow-by was more noticeable. I considered myself ripped off ... would never buy one again.
