Block Drain thread pitch/size for Petcock?

Hey all - I want to pull my block drain and while blocking coolant with finger, screw in a petcock so I can control coolant flow and then replace with block drain bolt when done -anyone ever do this and know what thread pitch/size is? Thanks!

What engine? The 603 block drain flow varies by how much you loosen it. It even has a nipple that's about the side of a garden hose ID. And some people still prefer to adjust valves .
