It's an 87 300D, the later 2.5s have the air intake there.

Looks like a screaming deal, congrats! I think Meguiars makes a product called "Back to Black" that will do wonders for the rubber/vinyl or really any black exterior trim for that matter. I used it religiously (way) back when I had a Jeep Wrangler with it's acres of black body trim and it worked quite well.

Well the car was traded in non running condition at the local new car dealer. It was towed and appraised for $200. It was sitting there for 3 months and battery was DEAD. NOBODY wanted it for 3 months. I got there and and put battery from my 1993 300D. It was cranking and I suspected glow plugs because "glow plug" light never came on. So I offered $450 because I told him I am buying parts car. I had no Idea after I got it started how is the tranny and other stuff but it was worth the risk of $450 since it had new tires and CD player. Used my AAA card and towed it. Got 6 new plugs and it somehow started running a little rich since it has been sitting there long. Runs OK Suspension is tight, needs brakes, back windows do not roll up and A/C is not cold. All other things work. So all in all it is worth at least $1200 in condition it is. It is rare signal red color too.
