1984 MB 300SD TD

I need to purchase a manual for my 84 Benz 300SD TD. I had gone to a couple local AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts but they only have the manual for the 123 chasis and the one I need of course is the 126 chasis. I want to purchase the original manual if possible but if I can not get the original I will settle for a after market but I will like the book NOT THE CD. Please let me know if and where I can purchase it and if the 123 chasis is the same manual as the 126 chasis. THANK YOU!

Also note, that within 2 or 3 posts you will be flamed by Jimmy who is legally responsible to shame anyone who used TD in their model designation while not referring to a station wagon.

If you want originals, then check ebay, and also used book stores, or even craigs list.

Kerry, thanks for posting the site. They even have the 722.3 and .4 tranny manual.

84SD is 126 chassis. Awhile back, someone on here was going to host the electronic version. Perhaps the link is still good or you could send him a pm.

I have a set of factory W126 chassis manuals and maybe an extra engine manual.
PM me if interested.

If your car is truly a 1984 "300SD," that is, an S-class sedan with a diesel engine, then it is a W126. The "300D" (ancestor of the E class) was built on the W123 chassis. The person at The Finish Line was wrong.

BTW, all 300SDs (at least those imported into the US of A) had turbodiesel engines so your use of the 'TD' is unnecessary and, as Kerry notes, in any case is used to denote a "T-sedan" or station wagon with a diesel engine.

The OM617 engine in your 300SD is virtually identical to the one in the 300D and many of the body parts are the same or similar. W126 manuals are rare because most owners went to the dealer or a private mechanic rather than (heaven forbid!) do their own maintenance.

I have an '83 300SD. I've looked around, above and below and nobody prints the manuals... Chilton and Haynes only print the W123, not the W126. I had to purchase the CD, which has come in pretty handy, I don't understand why you don't want the CD. I bought the owner's manual for the 300SD off ebay, but those come and go...

If you said, 'TD' this probably confused Finish Line since the only 84TD is a 123 chassis.

I bought that exact manual, was lacking in many areas. I actually sent Chilton an E-mail about it, stating that it was the most usless manual i had ever purchased. It spends more time on the gasser stuff. Don't waste Your money.

Smile 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300Sd Turbo Diesel

thanks for all replies! of course is generic, and/or on the cover even though is a picture of a 300D it says is for the W126 Chassis. I've already bought it so is a little to late and at least it will direct me to trouble shoot some of the problems that I'm having. Guys, I want you to know that I'm new to this kind of cars (but not regrating it!), I never thought that I will owned a diesel and always kind of laugh at them but after having the oportunity to purchase my 1984 300SD Turbo Diesel at 55! I thought to myself wow I was really missing on a beautiful German car! even though that it has 147k on the odometer and the a/c is ice cold the braking system is brand new it does have other issues that I will probably end up costing me a couple of $$$. starting with the vacum system, glow plugs and now don't advise when to start the motor and don't shut off . So that been said I will imagine that it could be in some help for now. Thank again!
