When you resent getting a company car because you don't get to drive the old diesel anymore.

...filling up requires some elaborate puttering around the station as gassers stare at you...

...you have a box of assorted engine parts in your trunk from various "removals" and "bypasses", yet your car is running better then ever...

I don't know about you, but I have trouble finding the window buttons on our Toyota. Why would they put them on the door?

Referring to the European mode of putting the power window switches on the console. The back doors have their own on the doors as well. I always reach for the console when I want to put the windows down no matter what car I'm in. I also wait for the glow plugs in the Toyota before starting.

your glove box contains at least one spare fuel filter, and a phillips screwdriver...

MB might be standing alone in that European mode. IIRC later BMW, VW and Volvo models have a bank of window switches on the driver door. Then there's the PT Cruiser with the back door window switches on the console between front seats.

Just this evening I took my son to buy a video game he'd been saving up for - went to a shopping center - spotted over in in the far corner was a W124 sedan.

I bet just about everyone here would have to drive all the way over to see if it was a diesel - sure enough it was - 300D "Turbo" in decent shape.

Your wife

Your wife identifies MB diesels by sound, and rubber necks to see if it is one of your friends..

You might own a diesel (running on WVO) IF........

Your neighbor calls you on your cell phone and asks you if you just drove by. He assumes it was you because of the smell in the air!

True story. My neighbor did not see me drive by, but had to find out for sure when he smelled something like the local fish and chips place in the air.

You might own a diesel

if you don't confuse glow Bug with glow plug.
