A lot of the higher spec euro 124's had the big clock on the right, my last one did.

I actually prefer the big tacho, which my current one has.

Here in Europe, the cheapest-of-the-cheap cars had the big clock and no tachometer. Typically found on the smallest engines (200/200E gasoline, 200D/250D), but can also be found on the 230E and 300D. All turbodiesels and 6-cylinder gasoline engines have got a tachometer, and after the 1990 facelift, nearly, if not all cars had the tacho, no matter what engine.

my '87 W124 E300D had every option except SLS, had the big clock.

Yep... I bought GTI/VR6 new years ago and it had all of those functions and then some. It was nice to have the oil temp.

But, now we have other things like GPS, Texting, CellPhones, Energy monitor screens and watching movies to keep us busy while we drive. One more friggin thing to keep our minds OFF what we SHOULD be doing...
