I've purchased stuff from him before and he always ships fast and the kits are very well put together.

It took about 15 minutes to install and the kit came with the bulbs needed too. Here's my CD with the brake lights the way they should be.

I also have a third brake light from a w126 that I'm getting ready to install in the rear window. Then it will be just the way I want it.
I performed this operation on my 86 300sdl a few years ago using an old tailight housing from a wrecking yard. I used factory parts and it looks and works very well. I did find that using the regular size light bulb was too bright in the fog light housing, so I used a smaller 5W bulb instead and it evens out the lights when the running lights are on.

I wired up the third brake light today.

I removed the rear hat tray/deck and drilled a hole for the wires to enter the light. Then I ran the wires down the driver side rear speaker hole into the trunk. I trained the wires along the existing wire bundle that goes to the brake lights. I attached the ground at the fender well where the other grounds are bolted and spliced the positive into the black wire with the red stripe.

I really wish there were a modification to be made to an existing third brake light that could be used in the W123 wagons, either high or low in the window.
The angle is just all wrong.

The best would be the Cadillac eyebrow of a third brake light I see on the Escalades, but again if not MB, just looks trashy.

I'm looking for a third brake light from a w124 wagon. I'm sure I can modify it to work in my w123 wagon.

I came across one recently but it was all cracked. Still looking.

They're not illegal. My mother's 2005 Saab has a rear brake light.

It sits behind the driver's side seat.

I rewired my 85 to have dual lights. These are kinda handy since I can put them on and have tailgaters back off. They also are really great in heavy snow and fog.

There was a guy here who had a 3rd brake light from a mid-late 90s Suburban on his 300TD. I can't recall his name or if he's still an active member.

Ok, I had it mixed up. He didn't have a 300TD, it was a 240D. I did find this though. MTU rigged this up for his 300TD a few years ago.
