The PO just reglued a post to the wood with 2 part epoxy on mine

Nice work. :)

You could do a little torture testing of a replacement or two to see how they will hold up in shipping, but I suspect a simple padded mailer will suffice.

I'll be a guinea pig recipient, for the torture test of the mailing :P

I tried to reglue one once, and it didn't hold up well. Don't think I used the 2 part epoxy though. Can't remember, it's been a few years and I have CRS. :P

Sent two out via padded envelope. If they make it safe, the charge will be $10 shipped via padded envelope. I'll let Daw post his opinion whether he likes them or not.

Did you make a bunch of these? I'd love to buy a couple if you have.

ImBroke 02-12-2011 02:58 PM

I've been busy, but I should be able to crank some more out. I did send another one out, and it made it safely. The padded envelope seems to be working. As soon as I get some more done, I'll contact the people that sent me a PM and see if I can get some more out there. Appreciate the support.

How are you doing?

I received my center console yesterday. I would really like to obtain a couple of your products before I install it in the car. Thanks!

Some ideas -
Two-part epoxy is probably the best choice to reattach the broken pin.
If the remaining pad is thick enough, it may be possible to center-drill the pin & pad to repair it with a thin screw.
If the pin is missing, the same screw could support a bit of vacuum-hose or be wrapped with electical-tape as a substitute.
The wood in one of my 240Ds is so poor, if the above fails, I'd probably just put a screw in from outside.

Happy Motoring, Mark

I could use one of these. Let us know when you go into production!

I have sent 4 out, with good response so far. I have three more already spoken for, and two more available right now. Padded envelopes have been working well for shipping. Just got a new shipment of resin, so I'll start cranking more out.

Adding a strip of bubble wrap will sure help eliminate shipping problems.

console pin

mine showed up in a padded mailer...no problems what so ever
Have not been able to install it yet..looks like it will do a great job!

DetroitFlyer 03-06-2011 11:27 AM

Very nice

I got my first one. Fits perfectly. I ordered a second one to put in the original console that I intend to refinish. Honestly, the quality of these pins look to be better than the original part!

By the way, getting those staples out was a huge pain. Any tips on how to remove them more easily?

I'll take one too, I'm close to Suffolk, maybe we can meet.
