Casting a new Console Center Pin

After seeing so many of these things broken by heavy handed people (myself included for the first one), I decided to make my own. I have the mold and a sample that someone else poured. For mine, I'm going with a two part mix that should cure very hard. If it works like I think it's going to, I may be selling some. Here's the mold, reference and the prototype.

That's a good idea. Let us know if it's indestructible!

When I broke mine I just repaced it with a Screw.

If it is the Pin at the back of the Counsel I just drilled a hole small enough so that there was enough meat left for the Screw to thread into and Screwd it in from the out side.

What is this? This is kickass owners picking up where the manufacturer left us hanging in the wind.

Bravo! I have two spare panels that will need these once you have it perfected. Name the price!

I would make it a little flexible. Just enough so it would resist snapping when you're pulling back on the console. My 2 cents. Great idea by the way.

After the front of the Counsel is loose the Wooden part slides to the Rear. You need to slide it to the Rear because inside and unseen is a Plastic Pin (attached to the rear of the Wood) that slides into a Hole.

Some people do not know you need to slide the Wood of the Counsel to the rear and pull up on it breaking the Plastic Pin.

In my case I simply did not slide the Wood back far enough and when I pulled up the brittle pin broke off.

I was in a hurry so I just put a screw in to replace the Pin.

I was actually going to get around to doing this myself at some point, but since it looks like you've beaten me to it, put me down for a few when you get them perfected. Who couldn't use a few of these?

Fantastic response guys. I'll be casting this week, and I'll keep you posted. I'll add pics of it installed as well. My only real concern is shipping. May go with padded envelope, but not sure it'd make it. I really don't want to spend $$ on little boxes if I can help it.
EDIT: Couldn't stand the suspense, so I started casting today. A little sanding of flash, and some trial fits and I'll let you know how they work.

I had the occasion to run across and old center console. The one I found had a metal pin in it. I think it was from a euro model, late 70's. It was still in tact.

I wanted to use Gorilla glue, but can't find it. So, I used CA with some kicker. Instant bond, and holds fantastic. Now, what else can I mold.....
