In the search box, I typed in "EGR Delete". here is one

EGR Delete/Remove

Look through the Junk Yard for a 78 or 79 w116 300SD. they have the manifolds w/o the EGR. nothing to block off. I just pulled a set the other day for one of my cars.

So what I was suggesting is that your pic/post suggest simply a 1.50 worth of a plate and you're done.

But wait theres more.....

1996 W210 E300d EGR bypass

I have a 1996 E300D. I did a bypass which should have no effect on fault codes and also ensures clean air delivery to the EGR. This is done by:
1. remove the metal connection tube; use a pretty thin piece of metal/aluminum to cover the exhaust side connection - retaining the use of the factory clamp. Use high temp RTV or ceramic wool insulation for a gasket...
2. Next, cut off about a 3" long section of the metal tube (from the longer end).
3. Bore a hole in the air cleaner box, above the air filter - about 1" diameter, in order for the newly cut tube end to pass snugly. Using RTV again, insert the tube end from the inside of the air box out, using RTV to seal/lock it in place. Allow to dry overnight.
4. Buy a 24" x 1" diameter rubber auto grade hose. Reconnect the original factory connection to the inlet of the EGR. Install a hose clamps to each tube end, slip the hose on and tighten.

You now have a guaranteed clean air supply to the EGR. I will not get into the benefits of a high grade air filter in use with an EGR dumping LOADS of crap and soot into the intake after this filter...

Good luck!

and the picture above doesnt show the tube connector being blocked. What of that part? I have seen a coin shaped piece used to block this with the factory clamp.

Brians kit is worth it. You can probably DIY for less, but with how pretty his plate, bolts, and OEM gasket are, why?

Won't your mod just dump boost everytime the EGR valve opens?

I deleted mine using BC's kit. Works great. Simple to do and came with everything you need for 30 bucks. I would use the lit again. What I like about it is how clean it looks. Looks almost factory.

I'm sure the BB works also. but what if the EGR is stuck open or? Rather just get rid of it.

My car is running and driving great. Smooth and has pickup. I still think it's underpowered by some of the people talking about theirs but nothing to compare to directly.

Just filled fuel... 426 miles and had to work to get 12.5 gallons of gas in. = 34.08 MPG! ANd considering that my odometer is off (checking it spins .7 miles for each mile) My milage is even better than than.

Some EGR's may be stuck open a little so a BB may not work. If you are sure its closed -great. I just made a quick metal gasket with no hole to stick in there. Used a galvanized steel plate I had laying around the garage , metal snips, and a grinding wheel to finish it off. Took 15 minutes tops. Looks stock and no mo muck!

Post Yet Another Red Herring

The EGR valve by nature , is almost impossible to stick open and if it did , you'd know as the engine would shake like a paint mixer and stall out a lot @ idle .

egr valve how do you do away with it

If you take the EGR valve out of service with either BB or plate schould you also take the ARV valve out of service by blocking vacuum to it?Want to do this next on my 85 300SD Will I see an increase in performance if I do this?

Thumbs up

Brian's kits on my Diesel powered machines, fitment is perfect.

I have EGR-less manifolds for my SD, but will probably never install.
