1995 E300D fuse?

What is the standalone fuse near the battery for? Ive got a 25amp installed in there which is blown - the entire car works fine.

What is this for anyway?

In my '95 E320 I believe that was the OE phone's fuse.

ive put a test lamp on it - one side is constant live - direct to battery - tested with multimeter too. - The load is something big I think, because its giving a solid bright light when tested for negative. My multimeter only tests till 10A DC so I cant risk blowing it - as it already has blown a 25A fuse.

btw this fuse is a spade type

Does it have an OE phone? If so, is the brick still mounted to the trunk ceiling? Perhaps it was removed and the wire is shorted? If the top section of the antenna is black, it had an OE phone.

I just saw it on an online repair manual showing the leaf type phone fuse - (terminal 30) meaning it should be live constantly.

This spade fuse holder is in the exact same location as the repair manual shows a leaf type fuse

The phone would have lived in the flip-open armrest. The "brick" for it lived above the trunk, between the trunk lid and the fuel tank. The antenna is special for the phone-equipped car, has a black top section where the non-phone antenna is all chrome sections.

Sounds like yours had a phone. If you're really unlucky, it has the overhead buttons for the phone where the center visor would otherwise be (standard on the '95 Special Edition).

Mine is graced with these . . . why so unlucky, just because they aren't used and odd looking? So if those weren't there, there would be a center visor?

Not a big deal, just prefer the center visor. It can be changed, I swapped the header panel out on my '95 SE for one with the visor.
