116 Climate Control Servo from Performance Analysis Company:

Just wanted to tell you all of a great company I stumbled across called Performance Analysis Company (PAC). I obtained a rebuilt claimate control servo from George Murphy at PAC and it is really a nice part.

The unit is beautiful and comes with a booklet on common servo problems, a section of foam tubing for the in car temp sensor and a long list of other goodies that the company offers, from blower motor assemblies for 107's to A/C vacuum diaphragms, service tools and much, much more.

George can be reached at *Perfanalysis@comcast.net*

(Delete both asterisks)

Hope this helps!!!!!

George is great. I've bought vacuum pods from him. I think I also bought an aluminum bodied servo for my 77 300d a number of years ago.

It's nice to know that stuff like this is available! So lets say worst case, dead servo, dead ACC control. How much $$ would it cost to get it operational again (Considering DIY)? And does the AC work very good when fixed up?

I spent about a grand on tires today for one car so spending $1000 or so for GOOD, DEPENDABLE AC would be worth it.

I'd hate to spend o bunch of $$ and still have a POS AC...

I think George Murphy gets around $500 for the rebuilt servos and the AC Amplifier can be found for $140 to $180 from various online vendors. A company called Unwired Tools sells an ACCII Upgrade kit that replaces the solenoid and the Amp for about $700. If it turns out you need a new compressor you can still come in around the $1k, or maybe a bit above, even with a new receiver/drier and new gas.

If you go through all the trouble to rebuild your AC system it would behoove you to fill it with the proper R12 freon and NOT use R134. My 80 300SD is black with a black interior and it cools rather well in Atlanta heat and humidity as long as I'm moving down the highway. Stop and go traffic and it sometimes struggles to keep up but it's not too bad really.

Good advice....

#1 cause of (a bad servo) on a W116 is a shorted A/C low pressure switch. It will blow the #3 and #9 fuse evertime you select A/C or Defrost, but will work fine on heat.
