Question Tranny fluid fill level at cold.

One of my SDL is leaking tranny fluid slowly and it is very difficult to look at the level when hot. Is it possible to measure it at cold and compare it to a good SDL tranny ( also at cold ) which I know is at the right level?

In this way I know the leaky tranny level is at the right ball part.

Thanks

Yes.

when its cold it should 10mm below the bottom mark or something like that.

Do an advanced search under 'sixto' and this issue.

jt20 - Thanks. I do not know what is the tranny # on the 300SDL. I just want to make sure when all the ATF is settled in the pan, an apple to apple comparision is a reasonable measurement.

There is no way to measure accurately without the engine running. Too many variables, it would be a rough guess, at best.

Those cold numbers are for a cold trans, but the engine at idle speed in park.

You have to be in the right ball park to do this.
