Belt pulley cut into lower radiator hose 1984 300D
I installed both upper and lower radiator hoses a few weeks back. I just installed a new hose from the driver's rear of the block to the heater core hoses and while checking for coolant for leaks with the engine on I just happened to witness what I believe is the alternator pulley break through the lower radiator hose.
It must've been doing that for a few weeks now and I just happened to be down there looking at the right moment. What I can't figure out is how it happened. I installed the hose just where the old one was and I don't remember seeing any clearance issues with the belt before. So my question is how did this happen? Did I install the hose wrong? Today everything was closed except for one shop that can get me a hose on Monday. Just trying to set up a game plan until it gets here.
