voltmeter for W123?

Curious if one ever existed? When I was having trouble with my alternator, I suppose a voltmeter would've been helpful to have if my battery wasn't getting charged. My only alert was that the sound coming from the Becker radio was over-modulated at lower volumes.

I carry a similar one and periodically stick it in the lighter socket just to make sure the voltage looks OK. Mine normally reads about 14v in the 300D at highway speeds.

i had a lot of alternator charging problem in my 126 , not obvious as the charging light would go out on starting and charging would be around 14.1V.
After a extended run the voltage would gradually drop and hover around 12.6 only to return to 14V when the alternator was cool. this kept the battery charged with low dips in between. regulator replaced
fault: the rectifier diodes were good but a couple would develop a solder joint problem when warm. rectification was easy re-soldered them and all is normal 14 .1V
In a 103 engine this makes a surprisingly big difference in the smooth running of the engine.

I have the same one pictured in post #2. Found it at Sears parts store.

Very handy if you suspect charging problems.

The power is going to your head.

My DMM rides with me most of the time....I'll stick it into the cigar lighter if I think there might be an issue.
