Error code P0700 Transmission problem
My 1999 E300 is showing an error code of P0700 which is a transmission controller error.
The car sometimes will stay in third gear and is slow to shift to reverse. Turning the car off and re starting clears the problem for a while. The engine also dies and is hard to start after driving for about a mile when the engine is cold. I know the transmission has some control over the engine power so perhaps it's part of the same problem. Anything I should check before going to the dealer to be robbed? |

This may be something to do with voltage and/or the K40 relay based on the engine dieing while being driven.
You can monitor voltage after its started using the CCU. Press and hold REST for 5 secs, use AUTO buttons to toggle to screen 24. Ought to be +13-13.5V after the GP timer circut turns off. A high end scanner will tell you what the trans story is; P0700 on OBDii is generic.

Thanks for the info.
Is there any info on what all the values mean while using the REST button feature? I did a search and couldn't find any. |

The problem should be either battery/alternator or K40 relay failing. |

I cannot find a module that looks like this anywhere in my car.
Where is it located? My car will not start at all now. I cracked open the injector lines and there is no fuel getting to the engine. Everything else seems normal except the front windows do not work as well as the seats but that problem has been there for a while. |

You've not previously mentioned a fuel leak or air.
***Always fix the fuel leaks first on the 606.*** If you have air appearing at either line at the cannister filter you probably have a bad SOV oring. If air appears in the line exiting the bottom of the pre-filter then then one of the 3 orings upstream of that point is leaking. Invest in a can of brake cleaner and clean everything first. Use the whole can. Clean the fuel filter housing, fuel lines and IP. Then crank and look/feel for your leak. Fill the fuel tank +1/2. Jack the rear up if the nose is pointed uphill currently.
