Low Transmission Fluid Symptoms?

I am curious about what these symptoms might look like. I just drained my pan, torque converter and trans cooler and on my car '82 300SD with 722 trans, the total capacity is supposed to be 7 quarts. I added 5 and a pint of an additive and the car shifts fine though torque converter lock up seems a little harsher. Tomorrow morn, I will check fluid cold with car running. I would imagine I would see a non fluid reading on the stick being almost two quarts low. Opinions, knowledge? Thanks forum!

I have only experienced late , soft shifts when the fluid is low. Then, once warm, it would improve.

its never been bad enough that it became very erratic.

I think the owners manual will states how low below add mark when cold. Depends on the transmission. But it is visible on the dipstick.
Granted this is for a W124 but you'll get the idea.
