Best clean-up method for oil spill in trunk

3/4 of a quart of synthetic oil spilled on the carpeted spare tire trunk cover. I've tried Purple Power cleaner followed up by water followed by towel blotting. it is still "oily" feeling......any ideas on how best to clean it?

doesnt the carpet come out? id take it out... pressure wash it, then use an ice scraper to "squigee" it dry, then spray with degreaser, and repeat until u have ur desired results.

I agree that second hand should be available.

But when it comes to oil and grease I turn to Dawn dishwashing liquid.
No substitutes.

On non-fabric it is always brake cleaner.

Go to PNP or your favorite junk yard and get one from a junker. I come across good one`s every once in a while.

There is a POR product called "Marine Clean". this stuff really cleans and degreases.

Second hand... Easiest for that carpeting.

I've used oxy deep carpet cleaner on carpet before to remove stains... No idea how that would work there.

I'd start with baking soda if you're trying to sorb it up.

Damn, you ugys give up way to easily. Get a new one? please.

You need HEAT and detergent.

Use HOT water and a biodegradable degreaser like "Crudcutter" from Homedepot (or other places). The degreaser is water soluable and the hot (read REALLY hot) will help cut the oil no problem. Follow up with more hot water and perhaps a good dish soap or carpet cleaner and lots of hot water rinse.

I'd offer to help Huskyman, but you do not list your location. Perhaps update your profile for future posts.

Best of luck.
