Help: How to remove timing chain tensioner guide rail on OM603

I need a little help, I have been searching around for help but cannot find anything on the 603.

I have the timing chain cover off and am attempting to replace the tensioner guide rail but can't figure out how to get it off. It gets caught in the head and doesn't clear the pin, so then I look at the pin and there are no threads in it like the upper guide rail and there is not enough of the pin sticking out to even grab with a puller...

Any ideas on how to remove the pin or banana rail?

The complete guide can't be removed without removing the head, but the guide liner can. It clips on the rail. Have done this in my 350sdl.

what is the guide liner? I just thought the guide was one solid piece. Did you end up having to take off the head, or did you just leave the guide in place?
