just took a drive
checked all fluids except trans. checked tire pressure. with about 1/4 or 1/8 of a tank to start, i added 12 gallons of diesel to the tank. drove about 360 miles. had the gps running on the android phone. top speed of 84mph. running on fumes when i got home. sunroof 1/3 open and one of the back windows cracked open.
what i learned: i need to replace a bunch of stuff in the suspension on the front end. i've put in bilstein HD's, but whenever i go into a turn, the car fades over before it catches. the engine temp is rock solid at 80c at 70mph 3,100rpm, unless i'm going 75mph+, then it goes up to i guess about 90c. even after that long of a drive, at idle, oil pressure is 1.5bar. my speedo is about 5mph over actual speed according to gps. the power steering belt popped off during the return trip but i didn't want to stop. there's still a problem with cyl #1, but that situation has existed since i bought the car a few years ago. not bad for 350k+ mile almost 30 year old car.

Consider yourself lucky.... When the power steering belt goes, it can take out the oil cooler lines. When this happens, it is usually too late to shut it down in time unless you are really paying attention.
