What gives with my turbo (oil leak)?

Hi,

We have discussed in other threads the oil on the underside of my car (82 300CD). It was coming from the U-tube, I believe at least to some extent due to a separator that wasnt working properly.

A few things first:
-Car returns at least 28 MPG
-Turbo is capable of >12psi
-Car uses no oil between changes
-Blowby so low that when full hot, the cap will sit stable on the filler hole.

Now, what Ive noticed:
-Turbo oil supply and drain are clean and clear
-Oil leaks out of U-tube area, past hardened seal (repaired) onto the wastegate and down
-Oil also seen in "mouth" of turbo
-Appearance of some black coloration on turbo vanes, but turbo spins smooth and looks great
-Oil at bolt points of compressor body on otherwise perfectly clean turbo body
-Oil seepage seen at EGR
-Oil seepage seen at intake to head gasket at cylinder closest to firewall.

Not sure of the make of my turbo. It has an engraved plate on it that has remnants of some green logos. I didnt have enough sunlight to be able to make anything out. Any idea of my turbo brand?

And my turbo:

Any thoughts? Im afraid of the buildups due to oil/soot in my intake, since I can see some residue eeking out. Granted, my EGR is disabled... Might pull it to see what I can find out... and verify that it is fully closed...

Does this look like a need to rebuild a turbo due to an oil control seal of some sort? Dont want to harm my engine long term due to some oil issue in here short term. Car only has 163k and runs great. Want to ensure longevity and performance.

Thanks!

oh, and nice. very few motors I see have the heat shields on the airbox mounts!
what's on your exhaust manifold? looks like a ceramic coating of some sort? is it just rust?

No idea. Ive always figured it is some engine paint that was put on the hot parts (turbo exhaust side, exhaust manifold (but not downpipe) and EGR. I guess it helps protect a bit, and if it keeps some heat in (so more work can be obtained via the turbo) that is a good thing...

Would it be prudent to pull the intake?

I wouldn't worry about that little bit of residue. It is probably the result of blowby carried through the system. What is the fitting on your waste gate hose?

Problem isnt as much the residue but the fact that the oil leaks from the u-tube and makes a mess on the underside of my car.

If the car itself was oily, that is OK, its rustproofing... It is when it drips on my driveway...

Given that Ive "disabled" my EGR, hopefully there is no soot to clog the intake... but soot + oil residue is a recipe for issues...

Oil leaking through the bearings along the shaft?

Good internal turbo and rebuild pics here:

Revisiting. Never resolved last time before I parked the car for a while. On my 83, the turbo drain at the turbo never sealed right after I fixed the other drain connections. This one the turbo drain is not the culprit, unless at the oil pan...

The wastegate hose is slightly wet at the turbo connection, leaky at the boost controller, and dripping at the wastegate. Note some black speckles are from an old waxoyl application...

On related note, any thoughts why these spots are leaky?

On oil filter canister:
