I have my 190d 2.5T with 316k on it. i am pretty sure that the head is cracked and/or the headgasket is shot. been drinking 1 gallon of water/coolant every 30 miles...

Should i try to part it out, or just get a Craigslist car scrapper to come get it.

outside is rough, it has euro headlights with HID's installed, i did the tail light brake mod, put junk tires on it for scrapping/sitting, sheepskin seat covers, which will probably go in my E300d unless someone wants them, AC still works great, have extra warning triangle, windshield is cracked, dash is cracked, interior woodgrain is poor, brand new spare tire with OEM rim.

i can, but in the condition it is, i am not sure what is actually worth something. other than the euro headlights, warning triangle, seat covers, new spare tire with superb looking rim, tail light with brake mod, what else is worth anything on the car?

my wife wants the car gone, and not sitting in the garage where her car would be.

I have a friend who sells VW parts and cars. He is a master of peddling one man's trash as someone else's treasure. He just uses the for sale section on the VW boards and sits and waits. His ability to sell just about anything leaves me in awe.

Though I do understand that She Who Will Have the Garage is putting some pressure on you.

what specifically about the mounts is special? the engine mounts were replaced with oem last year, so they are very new.

I would like to buy the fan clutch and A/C hose assembly for my '87 190Dt if they are good. I send my A/C hose to local A/C specialist shop to rebuild it but they are having a hard time in finding the steel fittings (barbs) for it.

Also, do you have some pictures of the euro lights?

I don't have the answer to this, it was more a general musing that the mountings might be different between the different chassis, and thus would be hard to find for the 201 specific mounting. I don't know if that difference actually exists.

Dude,

There are only 1500 of the 201.128s ever in this country. No matter the condition, someone will buy it if it is as whole as you claim.

Throw it on MBCA or on this site, or even eBay, you'll be amazed.

If it was a regular 190, I'd say chop it up for razor blades, but considering the base model, give it a go before you "William Wallace" its remains around the country. The 602 is easy to renew even if it's 24 years young. The 190 on the other hand was a pale excuse for a mini 124.

Either way, having own one of these rocket ships, see if there's an interested restorer out there that would liberate it from you rather than spreading its ashes just yet!

with the responses, there is no way that i can part it out or crush it. I will end sell it to anyone that will restore it and keep it on the road. There are positives about the car like:

drives straight, good front end
new motor mounts
AC works
sunroof works
driver window works
car was fast and fun

Here is the deal, i also have a 1986 190e 2.3 that i was planning on doing a 5 speed manual swap with. since the 2.5t went down, i was going to remove the transmission and any good parts off of it to put into the 2.5t. whoever is interested in the 190d should consider taking the 190e as well for an additional parts car.

I was going to hit you up for those euro lights but since your not parting out now.In all interest of buying and selling cars ,a parts yard would give you $250 if everthing like the engine and trannie are still on the car.I might be intersted if your selling parts ,just not whole cars at the moment .Your near Houston right?
