what turbos will fit in a 87 w124 300d?
Looking for a turbo for a 87 124w 300d and found one from a 82 om617. Will this bolt right in or is it going to be a hassle. What years will work from what engines? I have my turbo out and saw some pics 0f the 82 om617 and it looks to shorter. Thanks

while the turbo might 'fit' your engine... it does not mean the turbo will 'match' your engine.
You will have to disassemble the turbo to some degree in order to re-arrange the mating points and oil lines. Does that excite you? If you are not familiar with what different turbo sizes will do to performance, I would suggest sticking with a stock turbo. They should not be that hard to find.

I believe that the 617 has the T24 mount where the OM603 has a T3 mount, won't work.
Too small anyway.

T3 is T3 then, I thought it was the smaller one. Still a smaller turbo though, I'd look for the correct size (sold two this spring, they don't bring much money).
