W115 Primer Pump location on a '75 300D?
Am I missing something here? I see a lift pump mounted on the driver side of the IP pump and do not see a primer pump on the IP or at the canister for the secondary fuel filter??? Am I missing something here?

Anyone? Is it under one of the bolts at the canister?

I looked at a '76 and the manual pump is next in line after the secondary filter.
Location is up high on the front drivers side of the motor.

Mine appears to be missing -apparently, some owners opt to remove theirs - which makes priming a pita!

I came across one of those at PNP today. when I first saw it, what`s this weard looking thing? fiddled with it a little and figured out what it was. someone had removed the fuel line and it squirted some fuel.

These Primer Bulb type Pumps work. However, they are better for temp use and removed when done.
Where I worked back in the 1970s we installed them on some of our customers vehicles. In about 1.5 years they needed to be replaced. The lower quality ones might not even last that long. That is why I say they are better off removed after use. If you buy with the exception of the Bulb the rest should be made of Metal. The ones with Plastic Nipples on the ends do not hold up and their valves are no so good. Boating shops sell them. The other pic is a Flag; made in Germany add hand primer. Flag Numbaf: 90 1007; Feference 0 440 011 007 I have no idea where you would buy this one.

Deja vu all over again.
![]() Location of hand primer pump on 1976 300D (W115) FWIW, mine is located Topside on the driver's side, right at the large fuel filter. I also installed one of those marine type in-line squeeze pumps about 10 years ago. I haven't used it in years.... But I never bothered to take it out, so it is still there in case I need it. A pic may be helpful here... Anyone have one they can post?

on my 76 300D, the original primer on the filter was shot. I took off the plug on top of the lift pump, inside looks like a spring loaded check-value but the same as the bottom of the new style primers replaced it and it worked great. Since the primer is spring loaded and it's indented at the top, I use a big screw driver to prime, no problem there. I replaced the old primer with copper washer and ended up with cleaner looking bay.
Hope this helps Sal 76 300D 85 300D |
