The amount of lowering and the amount of difference in the lowering front to rear is correct this genre of mods.

Most people like stock original but this car's lowering is.......

more similar to the current E class than the original w123 stock.

The cost of reinstalling the correct springs and wheels, as well as undoing whatever hacks we can't see, significantly reduces the value of the car. It's worthless in it's current condition.

Most people that I've met keep the stock wheels.... I have aluminum-steels and hub caps, along with bundts in my yard.

It's $199 for a spring compressor, and most people already have a dremel to widen the spring perch hole for the compressor.

Springs are filthy cheap used, like $60 for all four turbo springs.

You REALLY don't want a stick with a OM617a, unless it has a VNT turbo.

I know it can be done, but I wouldn't pay $6K for a car so I could spend a weekend crawling around under it fixing all the idiotic stuff the PO did to it. I might pay $3K and bring it to my indy with instructions "to make it correct." Also, I don't see the point of installing used springs in any car.

I wouldn't buy anything from someone who posts such an obvious lie; who knows what else he's lying about.

I honestly don't see the point of people buying these cars, if they just take it to a shop for work. These are expensive pigs to maintain, and adding a mechanic to the mix only makes the bill worse. These cars are becoming maintenance queens as they get older.

I like these cars better than the newer ones, and don't really care about the cost. I've done my time underneath cars, I don't need to do it anymore. If you just want cheap transportation, you don't want one of these cars.

well. the thing is... there are two types of drivers (with subsets of varying degrees) the collector that cherrishes this car style, and the user that gets it because it's mostly dependable inexpensive transportation.
for the user, if they are mechanically inclined, they can maintain the car relatively inexpensively. if they are not, and they don't frequent this forum... they run the car into the ground, and turn it into a junk pile.
the collector if they are mechanically inclined will have a cherrished car or two forever, and inexpensively. if they are not, they likely will have a mechanic, or a dealer maintain the car forever.
it's all in the way the individual looks at the car.

You mean like the original ivory paint?

If you click on the "more pics" link and scroll down you'll see the original color, complete with rust dings, some scuff marks, etc. You can see the difference in tint clearly on the open rear door shot.

Interior pics with the "repaired" console and more.

"Filling up with 15 gallons, I'm averaging 560-570 miles, each fill up putting right at around 15 gallons back in. You can call me a liar, but with a freshly rebuilt/refreshed engine that's now properly maintained, properly adjusted valves, a new turbocharger, new exhaust that isn't leaking and/or clogged, a proper alignment with properly inflated tires, so on and so forth, and almost exclusively 50-60mph highway driving both ways to and from work, my math (and observations) point to 37.5xxx mpg.

Sorry if you and your friends on your forums with 300k mile cars that are in dire need of mechanical attention, poor alignments, worn-out bushings, improperly inflated tires, and a Paul Walker right foot aren't seeing good fuel mileage. You'll find that the majority of people on forums are NOT the end-all when it comes to automotive information and knowledge - if they were, they'd all be running their own shops and/or designing their own cars.

Call it what you want, but I stand behind what I've calculated and observed thus far with the vehicle. If you're in the Houston area and you'd like to come put down a deposit, you're more than welcome to take it for a few weeks and see for"
