Bought new diesel,,, but not an MB

But, we did look at an 08 Bluetec E320 first. It's an 11 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. Just brought it home, so still getting used to it. At least it's German. The Fusion's manual transmission was getting to be too much for Deb's RA to handle.

That looks very nice! I have often thought of buying one myself. Is it an automatic then?

Yep, it's got the 6 speed DSG. I've heard horror stories, so I hope they have the trans' sorted out. Did not get the Pano Roof or Nav, but I don't like holes in the roof, and we have a portable GPS.

Nice! I really like the new TDI wagons. I can understand your concerns about the trans while it's a cool piece of technology it sounds correspondingly complicated.

We can dream, can't we? I've spent three hours looking at Euro stuff for it.

Just a word of caution on these CBEA engines.... High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) Failures.

These failures are very few, but if it happens, it usually requires $10,000 worth of parts and labor. What happens is the fuel pump gets destroyed somehow by water contamination, gasoline contamination or defective manufacturing and send a shrapnel of metal all through the fuel system rendering it useless.

Lubrication and fuel quality is the key. Be sure to fill up at stations with high turn over of fuel to prevent water contamination. Also try to fill up at stations where you know the holding tanks are not old. Might be a good idea to add an lubrication additive to the fuel.

Other then that, these JSWs are phenomenal. Just a fun car to drive.

Have your first oil change at 10,000 miles, continue changes at the 10,000 mile regimen and be anal about fuel quality, the car should serve you well.

Looks like a sweet ride! I love the TDI's. You'll get great MPG's and the engine will last a lifetime.

Seems fairly roomy. It's mainly for cake delivery when it's not being the DD.

Hencho en Mexico. Engine and trans are german. I've been finding Euro stuff for it, can't wait to start modding it.

Yeah lots of horror stories - my neighbour has one of the first DSGs in a passat - no problems so far and he's not exactly gentle with mechanical things...

Nice car - though I must say it doesn't suit your user name - you'll hardly look broke in that!
