As soon as I can I'll get together with Rollguy to check her over. I know a little about 300SD's, and not much at all about the 123's 240 D, only that I didn't want a 240 D with an Automatic, though I don't know from experience, how slow they really are. That said if one were to appear that was a cream puff or for the right price, then that would be something to think about.
I like the fact that this car is a bare bones no power assisted anything except P.S. Less to check out and keep straight.

seats

Not quite sure but it looks like you could have leather seats, maybe why they dont look like the MBTEX with all the holes in them.....
You can swap the drivers side seat to the pass side till you can get new foam. Or check the junkyards for a good pass side seat for the foam and springs

Your doors probably just have the cracked/broken door inserts in the latch mechanism. I can't think of the correct term for them.
I can promise everybody, after having a 240D with and without power windows, that the bare-bones non-power windows are a pain in the arse. Keeping the electric windows working is quite simplistic really, and it is just soooo much more convenient to be able to roll down or crack all other windows except driver's.
Hmmmm, I wonder how many members we have in the "Free 240D Club"......

Use pool noodles, the cheapest and easiest fix. It makes the seats feel really nice, just google pool noodle fix...takes a minute to get them just right.

I may have to agree with that, I have a euro 300D...the drivers side regulator broke....and finding a replacement....was a little difficult and took a whole day of junk yard hoping.
