Possible relo, not sure what to do.

With a possible move in the near future, I'm not really sure what to do. I want to bring everything, of course. That's not going to be an option, at least not at first. I've thought about getting out of the diesel MB world before, but someone would have to buy both cars, and all the parts. Probably not going to happen. So, somehow I have to get 8 cars (two not running) about 8 hours north, with two drivers. Promises to be an interesting couple of months, with lots of back and forth. The cars don't owe me anything, are cheap to maintain and insure, and I really don't want to leave you guys. Not only the cars, but I have all of the equipment to haul up there, as well as machinery. Damn, this move is going to suck. Hope it's the last move, I don't want to do this again. Thoughts?

Do you know anyone with contacts in the trucking industry? You might be able to score inexpensive transport, even for the non-runners. Non-runners aren't wanted for long runs but you ought to be able to find someone to do an 8-hour run with them. If you can bypass bookers/brokers it might not be too expensive.

I have way less stuff than you, and I'd be thumping my forehead against my parts shed wall at the thought of moving all my stuff. Good luck with it.

Around here there are small independent trucking companies that may be willing to work a deal. What kind of equipment are you talking about? Perhaps you could get everything in one load? Look at cost of shipping vs value of vehicle & availability of comparable replacements.

Take it all. The parts will be hard to find if the non-runners are parts cars. Assuming you have the room at the new location.

Thanks for the inputs. We're talking woodworking machines, landscaping equipment, safe, the auto tools/assorted stuff, and then of course the household crap. Cars I'm not too worried about, I can run the trailer back and forth a few times to pick up the non runners, but I figure there's three trailer loads just for the landscaping stuff. Tractor, skid loader, attachments. It's only about 500 miles, but if I have to make 10 trips, that would suck. I'll look into Uship, sounds like a good deal. I do know tractor trailers let you rent portions for moving. Not sure how expensive that is.

John, is that a 5th wheel? I don't have a truck with that attachment. I do have a 3/4 ton Dodge with the Cummins, so it could haul the vehicles, but not that type of trailer.

Good used equipment is hard to find. 500 miles is longer than you want to make repeated trips. Find the largest carrier you can & make 1 or 2 trips. It may be worth it to pay a friend's air fare back from a delivery trip. Fuel alone would be costly.

... no, it's a NAVASTAR 7.3IDI powered truck with room for two vehicles, and HUGE storage bins and a large 15' bed 5' wide...

and it has a class 4 hitch...
