77 240D driveline removal help needed

I am having problems compressing drive shaft on 77 240d, after loosening the lock nut the shaft will not slide, on the spline. I have doused it with wd-40, the front flex disk is fried so I have it seperated from the drive shaft and tried to push the drive shaft back down the spline so I get enough clearance to get the front half of the drive shaft off. It aint movin boys any ideas or tricks?

Stupid question here. you did remove the 3 bolts that connect the DL flange to the flex disk, right?

Loosen the large 46mm nut.

put a prybar between the tri flange and the flex disc to pry it loose, and it should compress or slide on the splines.

It could be a little rusty in the splines or some grit making it difficult to slide.

remove the 2 14mm bolts that connect the center support to the body, maybe that will help. give you some wiggle room.

Or just bite the bullet and remove the tri flange bolts at the differential, use a pry bar to brake the tri flange loose. pry it off the center diff pin and slide the whole DL out or back a little.

make sure to put some paint marks on the 2 halves where they slide together just incase they seperate.
