300D Blower Control Motor Cable

I have a euro 300D that has the manual blower control, very similar to a 240d. Recently i pulled apart the dash to replace the switch and figured that since i was in there i would replace the cable as well.

Here is the question, on one end of the blower cable there is a circle of the wire, like it supposed to slide over some sort of pin. Using a mirror and flashlight i can see that the existing cable it connected with a little clip, i have removed the clip, but how do you get the coil off the plastic lever. I am sure the plastic lever has a bit of a tapper or some sort of lip to keep the cable in place.

Please advise.

thanks.

I have never removed this cable but it may be like the cable on the heater valve found on the fire wall. As I remember I squeezed it with pliers while applying some back torque (unwinding the coils a little) then it slipped off. I know theres not much room back where you need too work. Anyway look and see if its attached by a few turns of the cable around the lever. Hope this helps.

I will try that, it is the wire that is looped about 3 turns. I will see if i can get back there with some needle nose.

thx.

So i got the wire off the post, here was what i did.

I cut the wire and left about 4", then i got some needle nose pliers and pulled the wire straight down and it basically bent the wire an un-coiled it. Then to apply the new wire, the loop was a bit big, i gently squeezed the loop and it snapped right into place. Once i figured it out, it took about 5 minutes to pull the old, and replace. To bad i spent about three hours trying to figure out how to unhook the wire...

Good show. Next time you will be able to do it in record time. I had to replace the switch once, what a bugger that was, not just a matter of pulling the face plate and popping in a new switch. Did you have too pull the dash to replace yours?
