first Mercedes!

just brought home my new baby! 1985 300d its immaculate condition inside and out, has a few things I would like to replace like the ashtray and the console cover. Its set up on a grease-car system also. The only problem it currently has is the rear drivers window will roll down but will not roll up. Thats my next task.

Wow. Nice car. It looks like it was garaged and well taken care of. No cracks on the dash. Is that real leather interior or MB Tex? The wrinkle on the drivers seat makes it appear to be real leather. You should be able to tell by the smell of the interior as well.

Where are you located? You can add that to your info on the upper right.

Welcome aboard. You will enjoy this forum.

Like John says, the alt fuels forum will be a great place for you to get all the advice you want on running the car on what ever.
When you destroy the motor on WVO, we may be able to help you resurrect it.
It looks like a very nice car !!

Thanks everyone!

RML its the MB Text I believe. That wear spot is actually all the way through in one spot and I can see fibers behind the material so I do not think its leather.

Army It is a wrap that goes over the wheel, I think its real leather but just a wrap.

Chazola The breaks work perfect to a T and the previous owner said his mechanic has looked at the breaks over and over and can not find why that sensor is still showing bad breaks

I cannot recall the brand name, but I've installed that exact same wheel wrap on about a dozen cars back in the Seventies and Eighties. It's not leather, but a pretty good grade of thick vinyl. Not expensive, and the larger U.S. auto parts stores should still carry them.

EDIT: Found it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Superior-58-0500B-Superwide-Sport-Black/dp/B00029KA6S/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1272907537&sr=8-16

On the front Brakes there are sensor wires that maybe damaged where they plug in to the pads or elsewhere that could result in the wear indicator being lite up as you see on the dash. Only the front brakes have these indicator wires.

Where are you located ?
