Junk Yard logic/humor

I stopped by one of my local junk yards today, and got a kick out of a sign posted on the wall that said, "If you bought the wrong part, Now you have a spare".

That does not make sense. A spare implies you have something in use and the spare is a replacement backup part. If you bought the wrong part, it would not be a spare to anything since you do not have one of the same actually in use.

It's a spare for a car you might not own yet

ahh, but the sign assumes YOU bought the wrong part to fix what was wrong with your car, and if it did not, then you will have a spare for it when it does fail...

I didn't know you could combine the words "logic" and "junkyard" in the same sentence....

I would also take it to mean that a big percentage of people go to yards based on a self-diagnosis of the problem with their car... only to find said idea is wrong, once the new part is installed.

My friend's shop is across the street from a yard... guess how I know all about that.... You would not believe the number of guys who arrive, freshly pulled part in hand, THEN ask for an opinion on what is up with the car....

It's a spare wrong part, now you don't need to ever get another wrong part again.
