85 300 td Accelerator Problems...
Aloha all
I have an 85 300 td wagon and it won't rev when I press on the accelerator pedal. I have already discovered that the nylon bushing on the firewall which receives the rotating rod beside the valve cover is disintegrated but that does not seem like the entire problem. ( ANY IDEAS WHERE I COULD FIND A REPLACEMENT BUSHING ???) I did just change the transmission rubber mount and I am wondering if I damaged something when I jacked up the transmission to change the mount.( It wouldn't accelerate right after this repair) ( I didn't think I lifted it far - just enough to hold the weight...) ANY IDEAS WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THIS AND WHAT TO CHECK. ALSO- CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME HOW TO PROPERLY ADJUST ALL THE LITTLE CONNECTING RODS IN THE ACCELERATOR ASSEMBLY ??? THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! PS ANY GOOD MERCEDES MECHANICS WANT TO COME WHIP OUR TWO 300 TD'S INTO TIP TOP SHAPE IN EXCHANGE FOR A FREE STAY IN OUR GUEST APT IN HAWAII. I have been working on them myself for a while now but I know I am no expert... Email me if you have an interest... leviegray@yahoo.com Aloha |

Hey,
I replaced the throttle pivot bushing (the ball which falls to pieces). I got mine at Carquest for under $40.00 It was an original MB part. I think it is shipped thru WorldPac which is a 3rd vendor of Carquest. Dealer wanted $139 for the same part. My car can go about 15 miles per hour faster. Very simple fix. |
