Window Regulator, drivers side...
Before I go ripping my drivers side door apart, I thought I would check with this post for tips. Often you gentlemen alert me to things that my Haynes manual does not warn me about.
Where exactly is this window regulator? Will I need any special tools? Is there a way to determine if the window regulator is the fault, or the motor itself? I had heard that it is possible to hotwire this motor so my window will go those last few inches up to closing. Does anyone know of how this is done?
It isn't the fuse, as the related fuse is not blown, and the passenger side rear window, (which is on the same circuit) operates. Also, I took the switch out and tried to operate the window with a switch that I knew worked. Nada!
Funny thing - the first time the window failed, I replaced a fuse and it worked. That evening I was stopped by police at a holiday spotcheck and went to roll the window down for the officers inspection (and probable breath sample). The window went down three inches and stopped. Another new fuse did not remedy the problem.
