Scraping OM617

So I pulled the wagon head today... What else should I pull for resale?
I already pulled: vac pump, head w/turbo and manifold, IP, starter, alternator, R4, PS. Is that it?

I pulled the alternator, starter, radiator, condenser(and evap/heater core), oil cooler for scrap metal.

I'm curious as to what the white stuff is on top of the pistons. I assume it has something to do with the water getting into the fuel.

I've seen white stuff on engines that ran on WVO. I suppose less than prime WVO is a way water gets into fuel.

It's pretty delicate. Comes right off with your finger. So I guess it would burn off when running. I never messed with WVO with this car. But anyway... any idea what the head is worth? I plan on selling it complete with the cam, valve cover, turbo, exhaust manifold, all bolts, and whatever else was bolted to it.

before scrapping the motor, pull the two oil pans off and save them. many members damage theirs, and they are not easy to get replacements for.

Any idea if the alternator and starter are good?

Walking isn't a lost art: one must, by some means, get to the garage.

I'm on the northside of Indianapolis. Starter/alternator both worked. I was getting a mild squeal after a cold start(in the winter).. could have been belts or a bearing going south somewhere. Always went away quickly and came on after a belt change, I just assumed it was belts.

Oil pans: the engine is actually sitting on the cross member under it. I took the mounts out and the transmission is gone. The more stuff I take off, the more the blocks wants to flop around in there. I may be able to get the pans off. I don't have a hoist but I might cut that cross member out and let the block rest on the ground. Then maybe I can get a couple people to help me lift the front of the car up and over the block. Problem with that is I would have an engine block sitting on the ground in the way. I just don't know if I can have it towed out of here with a loose engine under the hood.
