Craftsman 3 Drawer Tool Box

I was at Costco yesterday, and they have the All metal Craftsman 3 Drawer tool box for $39.99.

I was in Orchard Supply Hardware yesterday and checked with the craftsman tools they have, and the tool box there is $59.99.
OSH was bought out by Sears a few year ago, so then carried their tools. Now Sears and OSH are owned by K-Mart.

That is a large spread in the price.

I have the Craftsman 2 drawer metal box that I drag around to PNP, and it has held up well for the weight that is in it for all my "Diesel tools". that should keep it in the Diesel forum.

Where is everyone this morning Iam the only one on the Whole forum and no guests. this is like a Ghost Town.

For a toolbox that you plan on carrying farther than from the back of your pick up to the garage, keep it small and pay constant attention to what really needs to be in it.

I have four BIG roll around chests with every tool you can imagine and I DO NOT work with anything but complete socket sets, all kinds of wrenches and everything under the Sun. I loathe gadget tools, but for a compact box, they definitely have merit. There are such things like pivoting end wrenches with four sizes on each end. Things like this normally are nothing but a means of drawing bad words out of my mouth. To keep a tool box light for emergencies or PNP as you call it, they can work out well.

Wrenches with 4 sizes on the ends can be decent if you get these.

WRENCHES > Ratcheting > QuadBox™ > | GearWrench™

I actually often prefer those to the separate wrenches (or sockets) of that size

I have quite a few of the gear Wrenches. I haven`t had any strip.
I have some other brands, Crescent, and some off brand I got a Costco, only because it had a small size, think a 4 or 6mm.

I have had 2 that decided they didn`t want to ratched in one direction, but not the Gear Wrench. I have them in about every style they have, flex head, fixed angle and straight.

This is the tool box I mentioned in post#1

Have any of you tried these type of wrenchs? they have the twist in the handle so you pull on the flat side instead of the edge.

Best time to buy new Craftsman tools is the sales at Christmas time. 1/2 off if you watch.

I bought one of these Craftsman Torque wrenches a few years ago for a project. It has 2 little windows FT lbs & NM scale. the FT lb window has some dirt covering it from inside. took it back to Sears, and it doesn`t have the normal tool warranty like hand tools. after I left, I felt like they thought I was trying to screw them for having a problem with one of their tools. they would have sent it in to a shop to be cleaned/recalibrated for a price.
Won`t get one of these again.

I picked up a Chinese torque wrench in Inch Lbs and in one of the blow molded red cases for $20. wouldn`t work right out of the box. get what you pay for.

That is just a sad story about Sears! Why would it NOT have the same coverage?? I'd be willing to bet they didn't mention this when you bought it! Same thing happened to me with a cordless screwdriver, but kind of understood since it was a battery powered device. A Torque wrench SHOULD be covered!! Sad times when the tool company we all grew up using start changing the rules that made them legendary!

I have a couple of SAE gearwrenches that I've had for years. I try not to break really hard stuff with them but they have held up well. I use them on these old MB's a lot.

ive had a set of gear wrenches i bought from matco for awhile now. it was the larger set, from 8mm to 24mm with the extra long handles. i get great torque out of them. working in a professional environment i was skeptical of buying them, but for the past 3 years theyve held up great. i break hard to heavy nuts with them, and i often use them more than ratches because theyre so versitile. if i remember correctly though it was almost 300 for the set of metric.

I use tool bags for going to the yard. Much easier to deal with.

Unfortunately I do not have any kind of rolling toolbox/chest. I have been looking recently and it seems that everything is either too cheaply made or ridiculously expensive.

Did you come by your sense of entitlement honestly, or was it something that you just "picked up?"
