Can anyone point to a thread, or provide info on, removing the high mount third brake light in the rear windshield on an 87 300D?

Need to remove mine for 2 reasons - first, to finish removing the cheap window tint film one of the PO's applied to the rear windshield. Second, due to age, when I removed the rear cover to check the bulb and get an idea how to remove it, 2 or 3 big chunks broke out of the body and I need to glue it back together.
